Introducing Skirts Plus Bio-Silk Skirts

Skirts Plus Corporation has introduced their latest and greatest lure skirt material called Bio-Silk, a silicone-based material which takes the phrase "soft ands supple" to another level.

Words like springy, bouncy, slick, sleek, slippery, smooth, flowing are all adjectives that come to mind to describe Bio-Silk material. It's also very well-mannered and tangle-free. This all distinguishes Bio-Silk from conventional silicone skirt material.

The silkiness of Bio-Silk mimics the soft feel of the "old school" flat rubber skirts that were predominant in the 1970s and 1980s.

All the colors are totally opaque (solid) without any hint of transparency - and no glitter, flake, pearlescent or additives. Just solid colors, like the old flat rubber

The Bio-Silk colors really outclass the ashy, pale old flat rubber colors. Bio-Silk is far sharper, vivid and "pops" better than the old flat rubber colors ever could! Also, Bio-Silk won't dry rot or stick together like the old flat rubber.

Approximately 5-1/4" total length. All skirts have 44 to 50 backward- and forward-facing silicone rubber strands, making 88 to 100 individual loose ends. That's a lot of skirt.

The way the strands are banded and tied together by Skirts Plus is with their standard latex rubber collar. The retainer band is put off-center to create one short side and one long side. Usually, the long side is put on facing forward, but you have a choice how you want to put it on, and it is fun to experiment with trimming the strands to produce different bait profiles.

The collar band has molded-in holes to accept rattle pods or not. Rattles not included. Rattles sold separately at BassdozerStore.com

The price is per one (1) fishing lure.

DUO REALIS JERKBAIT 120 SP ~ Suspending Jerkbait

Model: Jerkbait 120 SP
Length: 4-3/4" (120mm)
Weight: 5/8 oz (18g)
Type: Suspending
Depth Range: 5-6 ft.

Introduced in 2011, this is one of the newest and most advanced designs of jerkbaits on the market. It's a large size jerkbait to attract big fish and heavy enough to cast far featuring a fortified lip that won't break off.

The internal moving weight transfer system is a lure engineering marvel. With it, DUO introduce a new concept of dual “Bunk Bed” raceways that let two tungsten balls roll down separate (upper and lower) tracks to the tail to extend casting distance, flight stability and accuracy. On retrieve, the tungsten balls bunk bedded down in separate belly baffles where they knock against the body walls.

Jerkbait 120SP attracts fish from a wide area also thanks to its dual sound patterns. In addition to the two large tungsten balls creating a low pitch tone, it also includes smaller steel rattle balls in a separate chamber emitting a high pitch tone.

The bold, flat-sided body and its high pitch rolling action create an intense flashing and water-stirring ability. The lure also responds very well to rod work, staging a sharp flashing and darting action. Twitch it, jerk it, pause it, but most of all, it’s the suspending action that’s incredible.

Even with heavy duty hooks on it, 120 SP has a true “weightless” suspend for stealth fishing and long periods of suspend time. In this regard, it has capabilities to earn a special place in anyone’s tackle box.

Drifting suspending lures with the current to hard to reach places is one of the most secret styles of lure fishing. Having a super long suspend time means the ability to drift the lure into hard to reach places like behind pillars and into places till the lure is not even in a straight path to the angler guaranteeing to reach any fish you after, no matter where they are hiding. DUO will reveal more of the 120 SP’s secret suspending nature in future product information.

“All our models, the plastic ABS bodies are put together without using glue, but by solvent welding the bodies and joining them together by hand – giving them a strength superior to lures glued by other processes. The painting process is also done by hand, usually in 5-7 layers making sure to provide the highest possible standard in both color range and finish, giving our color superior appearance. As the “Nippon Quality” tag on the packages proudly states, our products are 100% made in Japan,” says DUO’s legendary lure designer Mr. Adachi.

Deps Buster K ~ Hollow Topwater Frog

Body Length: 2.4" (61mm) not counting tail
Weight: 1/2 oz

One of Japan’s hottest sellers, the Buster K is a unique topwater hollow popper frog. It features a rattling weight inside, rabbit hair legs, and a big, fat, loud mouth that bass just want to bust!

Items in photo not included with item for sale.

The mouth is quite cupped for two clever purposes. First, to make a sharp and powerful pop sound. Second, water pressure (or lily pads, branches,  etc.) pushing back against the cupped mouth minimizes the distance the Buster K moves forward. Most other frogs leave the area where bass are hiding under cover way too quickly – and without making the bass mad enough to take a good crack at them. In other words, lazy bass let them get away. However, the Buster K hangs around and bothers a bass to no end…until it takes aggressive action to lash out to silence this vexing, blabber-mouthed pest.

There’s a free-ranging metal weight inside that moves to the rear to enhance casting distance and accuracy, then it hits against internal parts and rolls around inside to add sound and a little imbalance to the action.

The hooks have the barb on the outside of the point – so the barb is facing up – and the inside or downward side of the point is smooth against the frog’s skin, thereby minimizing the damage to the body by the barb.

Which Deps Frog to Use When?

Deps offers 3 great hollow frogs now - the Basirisky Hardbelly (center), Slither K (left) and Buster K (right). Not included with item for sale.

Deps founder and lure designer, Okumura explained some of the differences between them, when best to use each one - especially how to combine their use for most effectiveness. He says, "Of course it all depends on the conditions in the field...I really can't give you the exact science when the fish are going to want the Slither K where it's gliding along, versus the Buster K where the sound of the pop is calling them." When Okumura ffrog fishes, he brings all three and he lets the fish tell him what's better, adding, "It's not like you can observe the conditions in the field and see that it's just so that you can predict which one will get bit. It's tough to say when to use what - or what's better. If it is windy, however, when the wind blows, the Buster K is definitely the number one lure. If it's windy, the Slither K won't work. The wind will overpower the action of the bait. In open water, the easiest to use would be the Basirisky, and in the very thick grass, the Slither K is the easiest to walk through thick grass."
